- Packing paper or newspaper
- Bubble wrap
- Dish/cell boxes for glasses
- A marker pen
How to Pack Kitchen & Fragile Items Step by Step
- Use small, strong boxes. Pack heavy kitchen items in small boxes so they are safe to lift. Line the base with crushed paper.
- Wrap each item individually. Wrap every plate, bowl and glass individually in paper or bubble wrap.
- Stack plates on edge. Place plates vertically on their edge rather than flat - they resist breakage far better this way.
- Cushion and fill gaps. Add padding between layers and fill every gap with crushed paper so nothing shifts or knocks together.
- Box appliances safely. Pack the mixer, microwave and other appliances in their own boxes where possible, and secure loose parts.
- Seal and label clearly. Seal each box and label it "Kitchen - Fragile" with the room and "This Side Up".
Pro Tips
- Do not overload boxes - heavy boxes break and are unsafe to lift.
- Glasses travel best in dedicated cell/dish boxes.
- Use towels and clothes as extra padding to save material.
